The Rock Valley College Bookstore is located in the lower level of the Student Center on RVC's Main Campus. Visit the bookstore website for more detailed information, special offers, gifts and apparel, and to shop for textbooks online. Please check our website as hours vary.

While the Bookstore will accept in-person appointments, the preference is to serve students by phone, email, and online if at all possible. To schedule an in-person visit to the Bookstore, please call (815) 921-1680.
- Log into Self Service
- Under Academic Profile (bottom right), select “My Class Schedule and Textbook List”
- Use the drop-down box and select the term
- Once your schedule appears, select the “Text Books” button at the bottom of the page. This puts your schedule in the Bookstore website.
- Select the item(s) you need and add it to your cart (you may need to scroll to the top or bottom of the page to add it).
- Go back and add supplies or other items you want/need
- Click on the cart to finish checking out. We suggest creating a Bookstore account for ease of future use.
- We ship from our store in Rockford unless otherwise noted, so you don’t need to choose upgraded shipping. What get shipped out one day is usually out for delivery the next business day.
If you need to look at a class you are not registered for, you can use the textbook tab at rockvalleycollege.edu/bookstore. Using the dropdown boxes, enter the term, department, course and section you are interested in seeing materials for. Different sections use different books so please choose carefully.
For students with money through the Financial Aid Office (typically Pell Grants, scholarships, and loans):
- Use the directions listed above for "How can I find books for my classes?"
- During the checkout process, you will select the payment type of Financial Aid. You will use your student id# without the “s”.
- FA-Link does not pay for shipping so please either select the free shipping or attach a credit card to pay for the shipping.
- You can attach a credit/debit card to the order if needed as well.
About FA-Link:
- FA-Link is typically accepted for the Fall and Spring semesters, starting one week before classes begin through the first 30 days of classes.
- FA-Link is also accepted for Summer II, starting one week before classes begin through the first week of classes.
- Please note: FA-Link is not available for use during Winterim or Summer I classes.
For Voc. Rehab students, DHS-ORS, Workforce Connection, SACN, and Sponsorship from the RVC A/R Office.
- Use the directions listed above for "How can I find books for my classes?"
- During the checkout process, you will select the payment type of Voucher. You will use the last 5 or 4 of your social security number based on what is written on the voucher.
- Vouchers do not pay for shipping so please either select the free shipping or attach a credit card to pay for the shipping.
- Please work with your provider/caseworker/coordinator to make sure the voucher was emailed to [email protected] so we can enter the voucher into our system.
- You can attach a credit/debit card to the order if needed as well.
Note: If you have more than 1 form of payment (some items covered by FA~Link and some items covered by voucher), you will need to place separate orders for each form of payment. While FA~Link and book vouchers will pay the book rental fees, you must still secure the rental with a credit/debit card that is not prepaid, no different than if you rented in the Bookstore. Your card should not be charged unless you don’t bring the book back at the end of the semester.
