Volunteering at Starlight Theatre

Our success at Starlight Theatre depends heavily on the time our volunteers are willing to commit to the support of our program. We understand how the power of a performance goes beyond the storytelling on stage, and is made greater by the experience you have while you are here. Are you greeted like part of the family? Is the theatre clean and beautiful? Are concessions available at reasonable prices? We rely on our volunteers, our family, to perform many of these tasks, and they do a tremendous job! If an opportunity to be a part of our family of volunteers interests you, here are some of the positions and what is involved therein.

House Managers should have prior ushering experience. They are responsible for managing the crew of ushers before, during, and after each performance. Hours are one hour before curtain until about 30 minutes after the end of the performance.

Ushers are responsible for managing theatre entrances, taking tickets, selling ice cream during intermission, and cleaning up after a performance. Ushers should plan to be present one hour before curtain and about 30 minutes after the performance ends.

Concessionaires are responsible for preparing the food stands, selling concessions before each show and during intermission, and cleaning the stands after intermission. Concessionaires arrive one hour and 15 minutes before curtain and are free to leave after intermission clean up.

Note: Only volunteers 16 years and older may actually work in the concession area per Winnebago County Health Code.

House managers and ushers help scan tickets and hand out programs before each show.
