The RVC Dental Hygiene Clinic offers low-cost, high-quality dental hygiene preventative services performed by students in the RVC Dental Hygiene program. Treatment Information
Who is eligible?
- Adults (any age)
- Children (five years and older)
- RVC students
- RVC faculty/staff
- People who have systemic diseases such as diabetes. Our students are capable of seeing patients with various health challenges, patients who have had regular dental care, and those who have gone years without treatment.
- Anyone who wants low-cost, high-quality care can be seen
What services are provided?
- Dental exam by licensed dentist
- Life-saving oral cancer screenings
- Thorough assessment of patients' oral health
- Nutritional counseling as needed
- Professional cleanings for patients with various oral health conditions (healthy, gingivitis or gum disease)
- Fluoride varnish applied to prevent cavities
- Sealants for children and adults to prevent cavities
- Full series of x-rays, bitewings, and Panoramic imaging
- Local anesthesia for pain control
- Desensitization techniques for sensitive teeth
- Individual oral hygiene education and a free toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste
Note: All students are supervised by licensed faculty (a dentist and hygienist).
How much does treatment cost?
Costs will vary depending on each patient's dental needs and situation. Oral Hygiene Instructions and Comprehensive Periodontal Evaluation included, free of charge.

- Pre-Visit Screening: $10 (1.5 hours)
- Initial Exam: $10
- Recall Exam: $10
- Cleaning Categories:
- Ages 5-13: $15
- Ages 14 & Up: $20
- Gingivitis Scaling: $25
- Periodontal Maintenance: $25
- Periodontal Scaling & Root Planing (1-3 Teeth/Quad): $10/Quad, $40 Max.
- Periodontal Scaling & Root Planing (Full Quadrant): $15/Quad, $60 Max.
- Other Fees:
- Pain Management (Cetacaine): $10 (one-time fee)
- Fluoride Varnish: $0
- Sealants: $10 (each)
- Dental X-Rays (if patient is unable to provide x-rays from another office within the
past three years):
- 2 BWX: $15
- 4 BWX: $25
- FMX (includes 4 BWX's): $40
- Periapical: $10
- Additional PA (each): $5
- Panorex: $50
How can I get started?
New patients are required to submit to a phone screening and in-person screening appointment that will help determine the cost. Patients must be willing to commit to multiple appointments, 3-4 hours in length, as these appointments are critical to our student degree completion requirements.
